South West Trains are running a “Try the Trains” day for disabled people. However, we feel that there are still an awful lot of barriers to easy train journeys on the Weymouth to Waterloo line for disabled people. At present only one in five of the 54 stations are fully accessible. Also we are concerned that the 600 job losses recently announced with result in more unstaffed stations, so assistance will not be available unless you pre-book your journey, to more stations. This could mean progress towards equal access could be reversed.
If you feel strongly about this issue and want to raise your voice to join ours, please download the letter template and use it to write a letter to South West Trains, your MP and local councillors. Add an example of your own or a disabled friend or family member’s journey or experience on the Weymouth to Waterloo line, to give it greater impact. Download a copy of the letter here.
