Trustees at Disability Wessex
Disability Wessex depends upon the time and experience of our Trustees who give advice and support to the work of the charity. If you have experience which has involved personnel and staff issues, finances, management, marketing or other business or life skills, we would appreciate your contribution - we particularly welcome members of the community who have some direct experience of disability. Our Trustees meet several times a year to oversee the management and smooth-running of Disability Wessex; to become a Trustee, please contact Nikki Haswell on 01202 295210.

Sarah Isaacs
‘I am a busy professional working full time as a HR Advisor for a large commercial organisation, and managing my own Personal Coaching business. My career began in operational HR and employee relations, and now focuses on Learning and Development of individuals and teams in business. I have always felt a social responsibility to contribute to the local community, but believed my long working hours limited my availability for voluntary work.
In 2006 I saw an advertisement for a Trustee position giving me an opportunity to donate my skills and strengths to the community, with flexible time commitments. I've learnt so much since I since I joined Disability Wessex. The Trustee position has given me an insight into the charity sector, and the business skills required to run a charity organisation. In return for sharing my knowledge of Employment Law and HR practices, I have gained a better understanding of Management Accounting and risk analysis in a small business environment. The other Trustees are all keen to share their expertise, and I have personally benefited from listening to the range of diverse opinions and debating with other members.’
